Front Output Shaft Seal Replacement

Special Tools

* J-8092 - Driver Handle

* J-43484 - Front Output Shaft Seal Installer

* DT-50649 - Seal Installer

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools MP 3023/3024-NQH - Transfer Case.

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

2. Remove the transfer case shield, if equipped. Refer to Transfer Case Shield Replacement Transfer Case Shield Replacement.

3. Remove the front propeller shaft. Refer to Front Propeller Shaft Replacement Front Propeller Shaft Replacement.




4. Using an appropriate tool, remove the front output shaft oil slinger (2) from the transfer case.

5. Using an appropriate tool, remove the front output shaft oil seal (1) from the transfer case.

Installation Procedure




1. Using theJ-8092 - driver handle and J-43484 - installer (2) install the front output shaft oil seal (1) to the transfer case.





Note: The new design front output shaft oil slinger can be installed onto all current and prior model year applications, providing the new design front output shaft seal is also installed. Refer to Transfer Case Description and Operation Transfer Case Description and Operation.

2. Using theJ-8092 - driver handle and DT-50649 - installer (2) install the front output shaft oil slinger (1) to the transfer case.

3. Install the front propeller shaft. Refer to Front Propeller Shaft Replacement Front Propeller Shaft Replacement.

4. Install the transfer case shield, if equipped. Refer to Transfer Case Shield Replacement Transfer Case Shield Replacement.

5. Lower the vehicle.
