EVAP Canister Purge Solenoid Operation

Solenoid Pack:

PURPOSE

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls EVAP Canister purge through solenoid.

OPERATION

PCM controls solenoid by applying and removing solenoid ground.

^ During warm-up and for a set period after hot starts, PCM ENERGIZES solenoid, preventing EVAP Canister purge.

^ When engine warms-up and time delay has elapsed, solenoid is DE-ENERGIZED, allowing EVAP Canister purge.

^ Purge solenoid also DE-ENERGIZED (allowing purge), under certain idle conditions to maintain fuel delivery calibration.
