Fuel Injector Replacement

Fuel Rail And Injector Assembly:

WARNING: The fuel system is under constant pressure, even when the engine is OFF. Always release fuel pressure before servicing any fuel system component.

REMOVAL

1. Release fuel system pressure.
2. Disconnect negative battery cable.
3. Remove fuel rail.
4. Disconnect injector wiring connector.
5. Position fuel rail so that injectors are easily accessible.
6. Remove injector lock clips, and pull injectors straight out of the fuel rail cup.
7. Check each injector O-ring for damage and replace any damaged O-rings prior to installation. If the injector is to be re-used, place a protective cap over the injector tip while it is removed.


INSTALLATION

1. Before installing injectors lubricate O-ring with clean, 30 weight engine oil.

NOTE: If re-using an injector, make sure that the protective cap has been removed.

2. Install injector into fuel rail cup, being careful not to damage O-ring.
3. Install injector lock clip by sliding open end into injector slot, and onto the fuel rail cup side slots.
4. Install fuel rail.
5. Install injector electrical connector.
6. Using scan tool [1], activate fuel pump and pressurize system.
7. Check for leaks.
