Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

Fuel Pressure Regulator Removal And Replacement:





WARNING: The fuel system is under constant pressure, even when the engine is OFF. Always release fuel pressure before servicing any fuel system component.

REMOVAL

1. Release fuel system pressure. Service and Repair
2. Disconnect negative battery cable and remove vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator.
NOTE: Place a shop towel under regulator to absorb any fuel spilled.
3. Loosen clamp and remove return hose from pressure regulator.
4. Remove regulator attaching nuts (2), and remove regulator. Discard O-ring.


INSTALLATION

1. Lube O-ring with clean, 30 weight engine oil, and install regulator on fuel rail.
2. Install attaching nuts and torque to 65 in-lbs (7 Nm).
3. Connect fuel return hose and tighten clamp to 10 in-lbs (1 Nm).
4. Connect vacuum hose to regulator.
5. Connect negative battery cable.
6. Using scan tool [1], activate fuel pump and pressurize system.
7. Check for leaks.
