Guide to Wiper/Washer Diagnosis Start Here

Note: If the wipers do not operate in the LOW or HIGH mode, refer to the wiring diagrams.


1. Verify the failure(s) or customer complaint and make sure the vehicle is exhibiting it at this time.

2. Identify the problem area, and perform the appropriate diagnostic test.


Note: Diagnostics for the windshield wiper system are separated into the following four groups;

Wipers Are Inoperative in Intermittent Mode Perform Test 43A

Washer Pump Inoperative Perform Test 44A

Wipers Inoperative in Wash Mode Perform Test 45A

Wipers Do Not Park Properly Perform Test 45B
