General System Description

Fig. 1 Automatic Air Suspension (AAS) System:

The Automatic Air Suspension (AAS) system provides: automatic height control, optimum vehicle attitude, and variable spring rates, to improve suspension performance.
The AAS system consists of: air compressor/dryer assembly, compressor relay, front struts, rear air springs and shocks absorbers, control module, air lines, rear height sensor and compressor cover.
Front springs and height sensors are integral with the strut assemblies, while rear air springs replace conventional steel units. Rear height is controlled by a height sensor contained in the right rear shock absorber. Solenoids which are integral with each air spring control air pressure and volume requirements. Pressurized air is distributed from the air compressor/dryer assembly and is routed to each air spring by four separate air lines. The AAS system is monitored and controlled by the control module.
