MODELS:

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE FEBRUARY 5, 1998 (MDH 0205XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Lack of bass or overall fullness/richness (quality) of sound in the Infinity I system (amplifier in the right kick panel).

DIAGNOSIS:

If the owner complains of this condition or poor sound quality, perform the Repair Procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

1 04760293AD Amplifier
2 04760373AC Speaker

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves replacing the amplifier and both flag speakers.

1. Open hood and disconnect the negative battery cable remote terminal from the remote battery post.

2. Remove the two flag speaker enclosure attachment screws holding the enclosure ring and grill to the door.

3. Pull speaker away from door and disconnect wiring.

4. Install new speaker, p/n 04760373AC, grill and enclosure ring to door.

5. Repeat procedure on other front door.

6. Remove right under panel silencer/duct.

7. Remove two retaining nuts to remote amplifier.

8. Pull amplifier inboard and then pull downward to remove from upper retaining clips.

9. Disconnect two wiring connectors, remove amplifier.

10. Install new amplifier, p/n 04760293AD.

11. Install under panel silencer/duct.

12. Install negative battery cable and set clock.

NOTE:
THE NEW SPEAKERS SHOULD ONLY BE REPLACED IN PAIRS. DO NOT MIX THE OLD SPEAKERS AND THE NEW SPEAKERS. WHEN REPLACING THE AMPLIFIER THE NEW AMPLIFIER WILL ONLY FUNCTION CORRECTLY WITH THE NEW SPEAKERS.
