NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO JUNE 1, 1998 (MDH 0601XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The glove box door may have excessive up/down gaps and/or glove box rattles.
DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect the glove box door assembly in the upper left and right corners for warping. If there is a 10 mm (0.4 in.) gap or larger to the wood trim bezel, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves replacing the glove box door assembly with a revised part.
1. While the glove box door is closed, remove the four glove box door assembly screw fasteners along the bottom hinge, then open and remove door assembly.
NOTE:
THE KEY CYLINDER IN THE OLD GLOVE BOX DOOR MUST BE REMOVED AND INSTALLED INTO THE NEW DOOR.
2. Remove the nine screw fasteners holding the door to the bin, open and expose the latch.
3. Remove the screw fastener holding the latch assembly to the back of the door and remove latch assembly.
4. Remove the coded lock cylinder by inserting the coded key and turning 1/4 turn clockwise, then depress the spring key in the notched area of the black plastic latch plate, turn another 1/4 turn clockwise and pull out lock cylinder.
5. Install new door assembly to instrument panel and latch first, then locate hinge properly and attach four screw fasteners.
6. Install the old lock cylinder by inserting and turning 1/4 turn clockwise.
7. Check for proper latching and key-lock operation.
