Passenger Airbag - Removal
REMOVAL
1. Open hood, disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
WARNING: Wait two minutes for the airbag system reserve capacitor to discharge before beginning any airbag system or component service. Failure to do so may result in accidental airbag deployment, and personal injury.
2. Remove the glove box assembly Instrument Panel Glove Box - Removal.
3. Using a long screwdriver or equivalent, reach up on both sides of the passenger airbag (2) to remove the screws (1) that secure it to the instrument panel pad and door.
4. Remove the two lower screws (1) attaching the passenger airbag (2) to the cross-car beam.
5. Disconnect the passenger airbag electrical connector (4) located on the inboard side of the passenger airbag (2), attached to the instrument panel steel reinforcement.
6. Pull the passenger airbag rearward and down. Maneuver it enough to clear all obstacles and remove through the glove box opening.
