1. Release fuel pressure before attempting any repairsService and Repair.
2. Disconnect negative battery (1) cable located in trunk.
3. Remove air cleaner housing (3) and inlet hoseAir Cleaner Body - Removal.
4. Remove upper intake manifold (1)Intake Manifold - Removal.
5. Remove cylinder head coversCylinder Head Cover(s) - Removal.
6. Remove crankshaft vibration damperVibration Damper - Removal.
7. Remove timing chain coverEngine Timing Cover(s) - Removal.
8. Remove timing chainTiming Chain & Sprockets - Removal.
9. Remove camshafts and rocker armsCamshaft - Removal.
10. With air hose attached to spark plug adapter installed in the cylinder being serviced, apply 620.5-689 kPa (90-100 psi) air pressure. This is to hold valves in place while servicing components.
11. Using Special Tool MD 998772A with adapter 6779, compress valve spring and remove valve locks, retainer, and valve spring.
12. Remove valve stem seal Valve Guide Seals - Removal.
