Rear Strut & Coil Spring, Rear
1. Raise and support rear of vehicle so rear wheels are clearing floor.
2. Remove rear wheels.
3. Remove brake tube and flexible hose off strut.
4. Remove lower strut attaching nuts, leaving bolts in place.
5. On hatchback models, remove package tray, package tray side trims and disconnect speakers.
6. On sedan models, remove rear seat back hinge bolts and quarter trim panel.
7. On all models, loosen strut to suspension support nut. Do not remove.
8. Remove suspension support to body attaching nuts. Be careful not to drop nuts during removal.
9. Remove lower strut to axle carrier bolts and remove strut assembly.
10. Support strut assembly in vise and compress coil spring using spring compress tool No. 09727-87701 or equivalent.
11. Remove strut to suspension support nut.
12. Remove strut cushion, suspension support and coil spring insulator.
13. Remove coil spring and bumper.
14. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install new suspension support.
b. Align spring with recessed sections of upper and lower seats.
c. Torque attaching nuts and bolts to specification.
