Repair Procedure 2 - Exhaust System Alignment

1. With the vehicle on a frame contact hoist, mark the exhaust pipe to muffler inlet joint so the amount of engagement is indicated. Loosen the muffler inlet clamp. Use Mopar Rust Penetrant (P/N 4318039) if the threads are rusted. Shake the pipe to loosen the joint. While pushing up on the muffler inlet clamp, and being sure to maintain exhaust pipe to muffler inlet joint overlap, tighten the clamp to 65 ft. lbs. (88 Nm).

2. For vehicles built prior to Oct. 15, 1995 (MDH 1015XX), replace the resonator hanger/isolator assembly with P/N 4809066. Torque the fastener to 250 in. lbs. (28 Nm).

3. Torque the muffler hanger fasteners to 250 in. lbs. (28 Nm).
