Radiator Cooling Fan: Service and Repair
RADIATOR FANREMOVAL
NOTE: The fan motors, fans, and the shroud are serviced as an assembly.
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE RADIATOR DRAINCOCK WITH THE SYSTEM HOT AND UNDER PRESSURE BECAUSE SERIOUS BURNS FROM COOLANT CAN OCCUR.
1. Disconnect negative cable from battery.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Drain cooling system below upper radiator hose level.
4. Remove the lower fascia close out panel.
5. Disconnect radiator fan electrical connector.
6. Remove the charge air inlet tube.
7. Remove the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with bracket assembly.
8. Lower vehicle.
9. Remove upper radiator hose.
10. Remove air cleaner housing assembly.
11. Disconnect the air conditioning suction hose retaining bracket to front core support and set aside.
12. Remove upper radiator fasteners .
13. Maneuver the cooling system fan assembly to disconnect the engine harness connected to the fan bracketing.
CAUTION: Care should be taken not to damage the radiator cooling fins and tubes during fan removal.
14. Remove radiator fan by lifting up from the engine compartment.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: CARE MUST BE TAKEN NOT TO DAMAGE RADIATOR FINS WHILE INSTALLING THE FAN ASSEMBLY.
1. Install the radiator fan into position on the radiator.
2. Hand start radiator fan retaining screws .
3. Position the retaining bracket and hand start the screw for the air conditioning suction hose.
4. Tighten the retaining bracket and radiator fan retaining screws to 6 Nm (65 in. lbs.)
5. Raise and support the vehicle.
6. Connect radiator fan electrical connector.
7. Install the PCM.
8. Install the charge air cooler hose.
9. Install the front lower close out panel.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Install the air cleaner housing.
12. Install the upper radiator hose.
13. Connect cable to battery.
14. Fill cooling system.
