INSTALLATION





1. Install a new rear output shaft seal into the transfer case (2) using Seal Installer C-3860A (1).
2. Coat both the outer surface and the seal lip with automatic transmission fluid.




NOTE: Apply a light coating of automatic transmission fluid to the flange splines prior to installation.

CAUTION: It may be necessary to use a block of wood and a soft-faced hammer to install the flange since the flange may have a slight interference fit to the output shaft.

3. Install the rear output shaft flange onto the rear output shaft.
4. Install a new nut onto the output shaft.
5. Using Spanner Wrench 6958 (1), tighten the rear output shaft flange (2) nut to 250 Nm (185 ft.lbs.).

7. Check and correct the transfer case oil level. Procedures
