Fuel Tank - Installation






INSTALLATION

WARNING: No sparks, open flames or smoking. Risk of poisoning from inhaling and swallowing fuel. Pour fuel only into appropriately marked OSHA approved containers. Wear protective clothing. Risk of injury to eyes and skin from contact with fuel.










1. If removed, install the fuel pump modules (1,3) Fuel Pump Module - Installation.
2. Using a suitable hydraulic jack with a fuel tank adapter, support the fuel tank.
3. Raise and position the fuel tank leaving room to make the connections at the top of the fuel tank.
4. Guide the filler tube vent line through bracket.





5. If required, connect the electrical connector (1) from the left side fuel pump module.





6. If required, connect the fuel return line (2) at the right side auxiliary fuel pump module (1).





7. Raise the fuel tank until snug to the body.
8. Install the fuel tank support straps.
9. Install fuel tank support strap retaining bolts and tighten to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).





10. Connect the fuel supply line.





11. Connect the vapor line.





12. Connect the EVAP line in the right rear wheelhouse.
13. Install the propeller shaft Propeller Shaft - Installation.





14. Install the muffler and tailpipe assembly (2) Installation.





15. Connect the fuel filler tube to the rubber hose on the fuel tank.





16. Install the hose clamp to the rubber hose connecting the fuel filler tube to the fuel tank and tighten clamp to 4 Nm (35 in. lbs.).





17. Connect the fuel filler tube vent line.





18. Install the left rear wheelhouse splash shield.





19. If equipped, install the left underbody splash shield (1).





20. If equipped, install the right underbody splash shield (1).
21. Install the left rear tire.
22. Lower the vehicle.
23. Fill the fuel tank.
24. Connect the negative battery cable.
25. Use the scan tool to pressurize the fuel system and check for leaks.
