Coolant Weepage At The Coolant Reservoir Hose
OVERVIEW:
This Bulletin involves inspection of the coolant reservoir hose at the reservoir bottle.
MODELS:
2011 (LC) Challenger
2011 (LD) Charger
2011 (LX) 300
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with the 3.6L engine (Sales Code ERB) built between December 7, 2010 (MDH1207XX) and February 3, 2011 (MDH0203XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may notice coolant is weepage from the reservoir hose.
This condition may be caused by the coolant reservoir hose connection at the reservoir bottle.
DIAGNOSIS:
1. Open the hood and gain access to coolant reservoir bottle (Fig. 1).
2. Measure distance from end of the coolant recovery hose to the coolant reservoir bottle (Fig. 2).
3. Is the distance 7 mm or less?
a. Yes >>> Repair Complete. If coolant is leaking further diagnosis is required
b. No >>> Perform Step # 4.
4. Partially drain cooling system using the draincock only. Following the detailed procedures found in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT > 07 Cooling > Draining Standard Procedure. Drain system below level of the coolant recovery pressure container.
5. Loosen the hose clamp at the coolant reservoir bottle.
6. Push the hose onto the bottle as far as it will go.
7. Tighten the clamp at the coolant reservoir bottle.
8. Measure distance from end of the coolant reservoir hose to the coolant reservoir bottle (Fig. 2).
9. Is the distance 7 mm or less?
a. Yes >>> Repair Complete. If coolant is leaking further diagnosis is required
b. No >>> Perform the repair procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the coolant reservoir hose (Fig. 1).
2. Remove protective sleeve from old hose.
3. Remove clamp at end of hose where it connects to the heater tubing.
4. Install protective sleeve onto new hose.
5. Install clamp 5 mm from the end of hose where it connects to the heater tubing.
6. Fill cooling system. Following the detailed procedures found in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT > 07 Cooling > Standard Procedure - Adding Additional Coolant.
