OVERVIEW:

MODELS:

2011 (LD) Charger

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to JC vehicles built prior to January 18, 2011 (MDH 00118XX) and LD vehicles built prior to January 17, 2011 (MDH 0117XX) equipped with Uconnect Touch 4.3 CD/MP3 Radio (sales code RHA) or Uconnect Touch 4.3S CD/MP3/SAT Radio (sales code REB).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The customer may experience the following:

^ When the vehicle is in customer mode, upon turning the ignition off and allowing the vehicle to go to sleep the radio will power on by itself.

^ When the vehicle is in customer mode, the battery may be dead or discharged upon returning to the vehicle.

^ When the vehicle is in customer mode, a no crank or no start condition may exist upon returning to the vehicle.

DIAGNOSIS:

If the customer experiences any listed Symptom/Condition(s) perform the following:

1. Will the vehicle start (If necessary, connect a battery charger and allow the battery to charge to a level sufficient to support normal vehicle operation)?

a. YES >>> Proceed to the next step

b. NO >>>> This service bulletin does not apply. Further diagnosis may be required.

2. Is the vehicle out of Shipping Mode and in Customer Mode ('SHIP MODE' will be displayed in the EVIC while the vehicle is in Shipping Mode)?

a. YES >>> Proceed to the next step.

b. NO >>>> This service bulletin does not apply. Further diagnosis may be required.

NOTE:
It is important that no vehicle controls are activated and/or that no actions are taken which could interfere with then normal vehicle sleep/wake-up process while verifying the radio behavior.

3. Verify that the radio (Telematics Gateway) will power on by itself after the vehicle goes to sleep

a. Place the ignition into off/lock.

b. Open and then close the drivers door. Do not lock the doors, this will enable VIA (if equipped) and delay the bus sleep time.

c. Wait for the vehicle to go to sleep, this should happen within approximately 30 seconds, but could take up to a maximum of 90 seconds for vehicles with auto headlamps. Vehicle sleep may be determined by observing when the cluster powers down.

d. Observe the display to determine if the radio powers back on by itself once the vehicle has gone to sleep. This should occur within an additional 30 seconds of when the vehicle goes to sleep.

4. Did the radio (Telematics Gateway) power back on by itself once the vehicle had gone to sleep?

a. YES >>> Perform the repair procedure.

b. NO >>>> This service bulletin does not apply. Further diagnosis may be required.
