Hands Free Phone Volume Does Not Return To Normal After Vehicle Warning Detection
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves upgrading the software on the RE2, RB5, RE6, or RB6 Radio.
MODELS:
2011 (LD) Charger
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built between December 13, 2010 (MDH 1213XX) and January 6, 2011 (MDH 0106XX) equipped with Sirius Radio (Sales Code RE2 or RB5 or RE6 or RB6) AND UConnect (Sales Code RSP or RSQ) AND (Blind Spot And Cross Path Detection (Sales Code XAN) or Adaptive Speed Control (Sales Code NHP) or Parksense Rear Park Assist System (Sales Code XAA)).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The Hands Free Phone volume does not return to normal after vehicle warning detection.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer experiences the Symptom/Condition perform the following:
1. Verify that the Radio is functioning as designed. If DTC's are present, record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further.
2. Check the radio software version.
a. With the HVAC system on, simultaneously press and hold the 'Driver's Temp Up and the 'Driver's Temp Down' and the 'Front Defrost' buttons for 5 seconds.
b. Go into the Radio Part Information Tab and record the software version number.
3. Is the radio software version less than 10.52.17?
a. YES >>> Perform the repair procedure.
b. NO >>> This service bulletin does not apply. Further diagnosis may be required. If a customer's VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
NOTE:
Only one update disc is required and this disc may be used to service multiple vehicles.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
Install a battery charger to ensure battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts. Do not allow the charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the flash process.
NOTE:
If the software update process is interrupted/aborted, the process should be restarted.
1. Start the vehicle, turn the radio ON and allow it to power up.
2. Install the software disc into the radio CD drive and follow the instructions on sleeve of the update disk.
NOTE:
Do not cycle the ignition or touch the radio during the update process.
3. Once the update is completed, which may take 5 - 12 minutes, eject the disc.
4. Verify that the radio software version is at 10.52.17.
a. With the HVAC system on, simultaneously press and hold the 'Driver's Temp Up and the 'Driver's Temp Down' and the 'Front Defrost' buttons for 5 seconds.
b. Go into the go to Radio Part Information Tab to view the software version number.
5. Using wiTECH clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules during software upgrade.
