Decklid Release Inoperative






DECKLID RELEASE INOPERATIVE





For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.






1. DECKLID OPERATIONAL FROM RKE ONLY

Is the Decklid operational from the RKE only?

No

- Go To 2

Yes

- Go To 7

2. DECKLID LATCH INOPERATIVE





NOTE: Ensure all fuses are good before proceeding.

1. Disconnect the decklid latch connector.
2. Connect a test light between the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit and the Ground circuit.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Operate the decklid and observe the test light.

Does the test light illuminate brightly for approximately 300 ms. when the decklid or liftgate is operated?

Yes

- Replace the Decklid Latch.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 3

3. OPEN GROUND CIRCUIT




1. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the Ground circuit in the latch connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

No

- Repair the Ground circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Body Verification Test.

Yes

- Go To 4

4. (P31) DECKLID/LIFTGATE RELEASE DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND




1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Cluster C3 connector.
3. Measure the resistance between Ground and the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit.

Is the resistance below 1,000.0 ohms?

Yes

- Repair the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 5

5. (P31) DECKLID/LIFTGATE RELEASE DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE




1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Measure the voltage between Ground and the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit.

Is there any voltage present?

Yes

- Repair the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 6

6. (P31) DECKLID/LIFTGATE RELEASE DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN




1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Measure the resistance of the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit between the Latch connector and the Cluster C3 connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

No

- Repair the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Body Verification Test.

Yes

- Replace the Instrument Cluster.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Body Verification Test.

7. DECKLID SWITCH INOPERATIVE




1. Disconnect the Decklid Release Switch connector.
2. Turn the Ignition On.
3. Momentarily connect a jumper wire between the (G25) Decklid/Liftgate Release Switch Sense circuit and the Ground circuit.

Did the decklid open?

Yes

- Replace the decklid switch.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 8

8. SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN




1. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the Ground circuit.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

No

- Repair the Ground circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Body Verification Test.

Yes

- Go To 9

9. (G25) DECKLID/LIFTGATE RELEASE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND




1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Cluster C1 connector.
3. Measure the resistance between Ground and the (G25) Decklid/Liftgate Release Switch sense circuit.

Is the resistance below 1,000.0 ohms?

Yes

- Repair the (G25) Decklid/Liftgate Release Switch Sense circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 10

10. (G25) DECKLID/LIFTGATE RELEASE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN




1. Measure the resistance of the (G25) Decklid/Liftgate Release Switch sense circuit between the Switch connector and the Cluster C1 connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

No

- Repair the (G25) Decklid/Liftgate Release Switch Sense circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Body Verification Test.

Yes

- Replace the Instrument Cluster.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Body Verification Test.
