Decklid Switch

Vehicles equipped with the optional Passive Entry (PE) system have a unique center tail lamp applique that incorporates a PE deck lid release switch (1). This tactile switch is secured to the back of the upper center of the applique by four integral latch features (2), two on each side of the switch housing. The resilient, black switch button is all that is visible on the exterior of the vehicle after the switch is installed in the applique mounting hole, above the center of the center tail lamp lens and housing.

The switch is hard wired directly to the center tail lamp wire harness, which connects the switch to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated take out and connector of the body wire harness. An integral 4.7 ohm diagnostic resistor is connected in series with the output side of the switch.

The PE deck lid release switch cannot be adjusted or repaired. If the switch is damaged or ineffective, the entire center tail lamp wire harness and switch unit must be replaced.
