Center Mounted Brake Lamp - Removal

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Using a trim stick or another suitable wide flat-bladed tool, carefully pry between Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) (3) and the CHMSL cover that is secured to the center rear of the headliner far enough to disengage the snap clips that secure it to the inner rear roof header (1).

NOTE: If necessary for additional clearance, once the snap clips of the CHMSL cover have been released the cover can be removed from the headliner by removing the five stamped nuts that secure it from above the headliner substrate.

3. Carefully pull down the rear of the headliner far enough to access and disconnect the overhead wire harness connector (2) from the CHMSL connector receptacle.
4. Pull down the rear edge of the CHMSL far enough to disengage the snap clips that secure it to the inner rear roof header.
5. Pull the rear edge of the CHMSL downward and rearward to disengage the stepped tabs that secure the front of the CHMSL housing in the holes of the inner rear roof header.
6. Remove the CHMSL from the vehicle.
