SUBJECT:
Incorrect Rear Ride Height
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves verifying the rear vehicle ride height and if necessary replacing the right and left rear spring.
MODELS:
2012 (LC) Challenger
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Incorrect rear ride height.
DIAGNOSIS:
If a customers VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Position the vehicle and all four wheels on a level surface as shown in (Fig. 1).
2. Measure the rear ride height of the vehicle from the floor to the flat portion (2) of the rear cross member next to the hole (3) as shown in (Fig. 1).
NOTE:
Ensure measuring tool is vertical, ground doesn't have a depression and tool is contacting the correct target (2) as shown in (Fig. 1). The vehicle must have a full tank of fuel, tire pressure set to the placard specifications and no occupants in the vehicle.
3. Is the vehicle equipped with 20in or 18in wheels?
a. If the vehicle is equipped with 20in wheels proceed to Step # 4.
b. If the vehicle is equipped with 18in wheel proceed to Step # 6.
4. Is the rear vehicle ride height greater than 346mm (13.62in)?
a. Yes >>> Return the vehicle to the customer or dealer inventory.
b. No >>> Replace the left and right rear coil spring. Refer to the detailed removal/installation procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 17 - Rear Suspension > Springs > Removal/Installation.
5. Return the vehicle to the customer or dealer inventory.
6. Is the rear vehicle ride height greater then 340mm (13.38in)?
a. Yes >>> Return the vehicle to the customer or dealer inventory.
b. No >>> Replace the left and right rear coil spring. Refer to the detailed removal/installation procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 17 - Rear Suspension > Springs > Removal/Installation.
7. Return the vehicle to the customer or dealer inventory.
