Clutch Disc - Installation

INSTALLATION

Special Tools:

NOTE: If flywheel is replaced or removed apply thread sealer to the flywheel retaining bolts. This will prevent engine oil from leaking onto the clutch.

1. Insert Clutch Aligner (1) into the pilot bearing.

2. Install the independent clutch disc (1) over Clutch Aligner (2) and position against the flywheel.

NOTE: If a new clutch or flywheel is installed, align cover balance paint spot as close as possible to flywheel balance paint spot.

3. Install pressure plate assembly (1) over cover Clutch Aligner (2) up against flywheel and onto the dowel pins.
4. Tighten new pressure plate bolts a few turns at a time in a star pattern until bolts (3) are seated. Then tighten bolts in star pattern to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.). Remove clutch disc alignment tool.

CAUTION: Do not over lubricate shaft splines. This can result in grease contamination of the disc.

5. Apply light coat of Mopar(TM) high temperature bearing grease to splines of transmission input shaft and to release bearing slide surface of the transmission front bearing retainer.
6. Install the transmission .
