SUBJECT:
Vehicles Shipped From Plant With The Incorrect Speaker (Subwoofer) For The Beats By Dr Dre Package

OVERVIEW:
This Bulletin involves inspecting and installing the correct speaker for the Beats package.

MODELS:

2012 (LD) Charger

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built between April 23, 2012 (MDH 0423XX) and May 01, 2012(MDH 0501XX) equipped with 10 Premium Spkrs
W/Subwoofer (sales code RCP).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
A customer may experience when opening the spare tire cover that it will rub on the face of the speaker. The incorrect speaker has a different mounting bracket causing an improper fit.

DIAGNOSIS:





Inspect the spare tire cover if it's binding/rubbing on the speaker when opening the cover, is it binding/rubbing on the speaker? (Fig. 1)

If a customers VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.

1. YES >>> Proceed to the repair procedure Step # 1.

2. No >>> Diagnosis is completed, no other action are needed.

If a customers VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the diagnosis.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Begin removal procedure by disconnecting the negative battery cable.





2. Remove the speaker mounting retainer (Fig. 2).

3. Disconnect the speaker electrical connector.

4. Remove the speaker from the vehicle.

5. Position the new speaker to the right side of the trunk area and connect the speaker electrical connector.

6. Install the speaker mounting retainer.

7. Connect the negative battery cable.

Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
