Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Description and Operation

NOTE: This System consists of two, two speed cooling fans, the radiator cooling fan, and the A/C condenser fan.

With the ignition switch in the ON position and engine coolant temperature above 185°F, the thermosensor contacts close. This grounds the radiator fan motor relay coil, actuating the relay, turning the radiator cooling fan on HIGH speed.


When the A/C compressor clutch is engaged and coolant temperature is below 185°F, the radiator and A/C condenser fans should operate at LOW speed.


When the A/C compressor clutch is engaged and coolant temperature is above 185°F, the radiator and A/C condenser fans should operate at HIGH speed.
