EGR Thermo Valve

Purpose
To provide control over EGR operation based on coolant temperature.

Located on the thermostat housing,

Construction
The valve, is a thermo-wax type.

Operation
As the engine temperature rises above a preset point, a wax element in the module expands moving a mechanical valve in the module. This closes off the vented port (closing the valve) providing vacuum to the EGR valve.
