TITLE
Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction

BACKGROUND
- When the engine is running, the camshaft position sensor outputs a pulse signal.
- The engine control module checks whether the pulse signal is input.

RANGE OF CHECK
- Ignition switch: ON
- Engine speed is approx. 50 RPM's or more.

SET CONDITIONS
Sensor output voltage does not change for 4 seconds (no pulse signal input).

EFFECT
Limp-in
- Injects fuel into the cylinders in the order 1-3-4-2 with irregular timing. (After the ignition switch is turned to ON, the No.1 cylinder top dead center is not detected at all.)
- Cuts off the fuel supply 4 seconds after a problem is detected. (After the ignition switch is turned to ON, the No.1 cylinder top dead center is not detected at all.)

PROBABLE CAUSES
- Camshaft position sensor failed.
- Open or shorted camshaft position sensor circuit, or loose connection
- Engine control module failed.
