CODE NAME
Code No. 53, 86 Incorrect 3rd Gear Ratio

DESCRIPTION
After a shift to the 3rd speed has been completed, if the value of the PG-A output (input shaft speed) divided by the 3rd gear ratio does not coincide with the PG-B output (output shaft speed), code No. 53 is output. If associated diagnostic trouble code (No. 51, 52, 53, 54) is output four times, fail safe code No. 86 is output to indicate that the 3rd gear ratio is incorrect and this activates the fail safe function to lock transaxle at the 3rd speed (D) or 2nd speed (2, L).

- Defective pulse generators A and B
- Defective connector
- Defective transfer driven gear
- Defective end clutch retainer
- Defective front clutch
- Noise generated
