2 Start Failure (Will Not Crank)
PROBLEMStart failure (will not crank)
DESCRIPTION
When the engine fails to start with the selector lever at positions P and N, it is likely that the engine system, torque converter and/or oil pump is out of order.
PROBABLE CAUSE OF TROUBLE
- Defective engine system
- Defective torque converter
- Defective torque converter clutch
- Defective oil pump
INSPECTION OF ENGINE SYSTEM
- Check the control system, ignition system, fuel system and main system to make sure that all of them are in order.
- If there is anything wrong, repair or replace the engine system.
After the end of the above procedure
INSPECTION OF TORQUE CONVERTER
- Check to ensure that the torque converter has been mounted without any problem (tilted when inserted, etc.).
- If there are defects, make repairs. If damaged splines or other problems which make repairs impossible exist, replace the torque converter as an assembly.
After the end of the above procedure
INSPECTION OF OIL PUMP
- Check to ensure that the oil pump is free from problems such as oil pump seizure, abnormal side clearance, loose bolt, etc.
- If there is anything wrong with the oil pump, replace it as an assembly.
