Leak Detection Solenoid: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTIONThe evaporative emissions ventilation solenoid is a ON-OFF type solenoid valve and is installed to monitor for leaks in the fuel tank and purge line. Normally it opens to release atmospheric pressure to the evaporative emissions canister and closes during leak monitoring.
OPERATION
Battery power is supplied to the evaporative emissions ventilation solenoid through the Multiport Fuel Injection (MFI) relay. If the Engine Control Module (ECM) switches on the power transistor in the module, current flows in the coil and closes the EVAP canister release opening.
