With California Emissions
1. Warm up the engine, then turn it OFF.
2. Disconnect the vacuum hose (black) from the intake manifold plenum and connect it to a hand held vacuum pump.
3. Plug the nipple from which the vacuum hose was removed.
Component Locations:
4. Disconnect the evaporative emission purge solenoid valve No. 2 connector.
5. Apply 400 mm Hg (15.7 in. Hg) vacuum, then start the engine. The vacuum should leak in several minutes after starting the engine.
6. Connect the evaporative emission purge solenoid valve No. 2 connector.
7. Disconnect the evaporative emission purge solenoid valve No. 1 connector.
8. Apply 400 mm Hg (15.7 in. Hg) vacuum, then start the engine. With the engine idling, vacuum is maintained. With the engine running at 3500 RPM, the vacuum leaks after several minutes.
9. Connect the evaporative emission purge solenoid valve No. 1 connector.
