Spoiler - Installation
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Any areas with an existing urethane bead should be trimmed down to no more than 1 mm as explained in the removal procedure.
NOTE: Carefully examine the liftgate panel for any damage that will be exposed beyond what the spoiler will cover. If any exists it must be repaired and refinished before proceeding to the installation process.
1. On the bottom of the spoiler (1), use alcohol wipes to clean the grooved spoiler bonding area (2) and the liftgate mating surface.
2. Allow areas that have been treated with alcohol wipes to dry for 1 minute.
3. Apply urethane primer to the spoiler (1) grooved area (2) where the urethane bead will mate.
4. On the liftgate, apply urethane primer to the remaining urethane bead as well as any paint that may have been damaged on the liftgate but ONLY within areas that the spoiler will cover.
5. Allow urethane primer to dry per manufacture recommendations.
NOTE: Use Mopar Part # 04864015AB urethane to install the spoiler. Follow the recommendations for work and handling times.
6. Cut a 5 X 10 mm notch in the urethane tube nozzle (1) as shown.
7. With the use of a caulk gun (2) or equivalent, apply a 7 X 12 mm bead of urethane (1) to the primed area of the liftgate.
8. With the help of an assistant, align the clips (2) on the bottom of the spoiler (3) to the holes on the top of the liftgate (1) and set in place.
9. Apply firm downward pressure to the areas where the alignment clips (2) are located. Be certain that the clips (2) have seated properly.
10. Apply firm downward pressure to the entire perimeter of the spoiler (3) where the urethane bead is located.
11. Immediately remove any squeeze out with an alcohol wipe.
12. Inspect the spoiler (2) to the liftgate mating surface to be certain of even flushness.
13. If the spoiler (2) is not flush in some areas it will be necessary to use masking tape (1) to hold the spoiler in place until the urethane has cured.
14. Once the urethane has cured, per manufacture recommendations, remove the masking tape (1).
