Air Inlet Housing

HOUSING-AIR INLET

NOTE: The two air door pivot shaft to air inlet housing contact points and coupler to actuator contact points should be adequately lubricated using Molykote(R) Grease, available through Mopar. Do not get grease on the air door seals, as this could cause unwanted flap noises and impairs the durability of the seal. Lubrication should be performed if there is a concern or complaint of linkage chatter, grinding, or other movement derived noises that are detectable in the cabin.

NOTE: Manual Temperature Control (MTC) shown. Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) similar.

NOTE: If a rubber seal on the recirculation air-door is deformed or damaged, the air-door must be replaced.

1. Lightly lubricate the ends of the recirculation door pivot shafts with Molykote(R) Grease, available through Mopar. Be sure not to get any grease on the air door seals.
2. Install the recirculation air door (1) into the upper half of the air inlet housing (2).

3. Align the air door pivot shaft (3) with the hole in the lower half of the air inlet housing (1).
4. Install the lower half onto the upper half of the air inlet housing (6).
5. Install the five screws (2, 4, 5 and 7). Tighten the screws to 0.8 Nm (7 in. lbs.)..

NOTE: Install the coupler by carefully pushing it straight into the end of the recirculation door pivot shaft.

6. Align and install the recirculation door coupler (1) into the pivot shaft of the recirculation air door. Make sure the adapter is fully engaged to the pivot shaft.

7. Lightly lubricate the recirculation door actuator to coupler contact point with Molykote(R) Grease, available through Mopar.
8. Install the recirculation door actuator (4) onto the bottom of the HVAC air inlet housing (3). If necessary, rotate the actuator slightly to align the splines on the actuator output shaft (1) with those in the recirculation door coupler (2).

9. Install the two screws (1 and 3) that secure the recirculation door actuator (2) to the bottom of the air inlet housing (4). Tighten the screws to 0.8 Nm (7 in. lbs.).
10. Install the air inlet housing onto the HVAC housing HVAC Housing - Installation.
11. Install the HVAC housing assembly HVAC Housing - Installation.
