NOISE -CAB VIBRATION AND "BOOM" - BORG-WARNER 13-45 TRANSFER CASE - 5.0L WITH AOD TRANSMISSION

LIGHT TRUCK: 1980-86 BRONCO

ISSUE: Cab vibration and body "boom" on 1980-86 Bronco vehicles with 5.0L engines and AOD transmissions may be caused by a transfer case output yoke that is out of balance.

ACTION: To correct this, inspect the output yoke for proper indexing to determine if a new precision balanced output yoke is required. Refer to the following service procedure.

1. Inspect the transfer case rear output yoke and rear axle pinion yoke to make sure the yellowdotted high points have been properly indexed to the driveshaft. Refer to the Light Truck Shop Manual, Volume A, Section 15-60 and 16-82.

2. If output yoke and rear axle pinion yoke are indexed to the driveshaft correctly, install a new precision balanced output yoke, (E1TZ-7B214-D).
