Removal and Installation
1. Position a wooden block under clutch pedal to prevent it from being depressed.2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Mark relationship of driveshaft to flange, then disconnect driveshaft and slide off transmission output shaft. Install suitable seal installation tool into extension housing to prevent leakage.
4. Disconnect speedometer cable from extension housing.
5. Remove shift rod to shift lever retaining clips, flat washers and spring washers.
6. Remove shift control attaching bolts from extension housing and nuts from transmission case.
7. Remove crossmember support to extension housing attaching bolts from rear transmission support.
8. Raise transmission, clutch and engine assembly high enough to relieve weight from No. 3 crossmember, then remove crossmember.
9. Raise rear of engine high enough to relieve weight from crossmember, then remove crossmember.
10. Support transmission with a suitable jack and remove transmission to flywheel housing attaching bolts.
11. Slide transmission rearward until input shaft clears clutch housing, then carefully lower transmission from vehicle.
NOTE: Do not depress clutch pedal with transmission out of vehicle.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
