Water leaks emanating from the wheelhouse area may be eliminated by applying silicone sealer to the edge joint of the wheelhouse flange (Figure 32) in the following manner:

1. Clean the area between the spot welds on the joint of the wheelhouse flange. It may be necessary to introduce water into the wheelhouse from the inside to flush out mud, etc. (Only on untrimmed vehicles). Wipe cleaned area with denatured alcohol or equivalent.
2. Apply a continuous bead of silicone sealer to the edge of the wheelhouse/quarter panel panel joint between the spot welds.
3. Water test the vehicle to confirm that the water leak has been eliminated.
