DOOR HANDLE - PUSH BUTTON BINDS

LIGHT TRUCKS 1983-84 ECONOLINE

The door handle push-button may bind and stick in the depressed position.

Door handle push-buttons may bind or stick in the depressed position when attempting to open any door on 1983-84 Econolines. This is caused by a slight distortion of the handle button retainer hole made during the manufacturing piercing operation. It causes drag on the push-button gasket. This distorts the guide assembly and renders the mechanism inoperative.

If this condition exists, replace the door handle and button guide assembly with the revised hardware. Refer to 1084 Light Truck Shop Manual Page 44-11- 11 for removal/installation of the handle and button.
