WATER PUMP REINSTALLATION - (6.9L DIESEL) - PROPER PROCEDURE

Whenever the water pump is reinstalled on the engine, the two 1-1/4" long bolts (each with a flat washer) must be installed in the positions shown in Figure 12.

WARNING: IF BOLTS LONGER THAN 1-1/4" ARE INSTALLED AT THE UPPER TWO BOLT LOCATIONS, THE LONGER BOLTS MAY INTERFERE WITH THE INJECTION PUMP DRIVE GEAR, CAUSING FUEL INJECTION PUMP DRIVE SHAFT BREAKAGE.
