The sliding door may contact the bodyside quarter panel when being closed. This condition can be serviced using the following procedure.

1. Open the sliding door.
2. Remove the center track cover shield. (Refer to 1983 Light Truck Shop Manual Section 44-08-04).
3. Slide the door rearward until the nylon stabilizer (268B19) and roller (268B40) are lined up with the loading notch cut-out of the center track.
4. Support the sliding door with a door jack or equivalent type door support.
5. Remove the door hinge housing and lever assembly (268B42) from the center track by grasping the hinge pin (268A76) and lifting up sufficiently so that the nylon stabilizer and roller assembly clear the center track.
6. While door is supported and partially pivoted away from the body remove the existing 5/16" hex head nut retaining the cam (268B16) to the lever and housing assembly (268B42). Remove cam.
7. Remove the existing roller (268B40) and nylon stabilizer (268B19) from the housing and lever assembly (268B42). Remove the housing and lever assembly (268B42) from the bodyside door hinge pin (268A76).
8. Install new housing and lever assembly (E4UZ- 12268B42-A) onto the bodyside door hinge pin (268A76).
9. Install new cam (E4UZ-12268B16-A).
10. Install nylon stabilizer (268B19) and roller (268B40) previously removed in Step 7 above.
11. Install the lever and housing assembly into loading notch clearance area of center track.

NOTE: Assure that the roller and nylon stabilizer are in the correct position over the track.

12. Remove door jack support.
13. Cycle the door to assure smooth operation.
14. Re-install side marker lamp and center track cover shield.
