Diesel Data: Automotive Repair

Action By Ford and Dealer Responsibilities Information

ACTION BY FORD:

Ford will inspect the ambulance for discrepancies that cause or contribute to excessive fuel system pressures or elevated exhaust system temperatures. In addition, Ford will modify the base-vehicle fuel venting and emissions control systems to reduce base operating temperatures and fuel system pressures.

Ambulance owners/operators whose names and addresses are known are being notified by First Class Mail to contact their local Ford dealer to arrange to have this program performed (Attachment III). In instances where dealers and FIES district and/or regional offices know of potentially involved ambulances, please obtain and provide owner/operator names and address and vehicle identification (serial) numbers to Service Recalls, FIES, Wixom so that we can make appropriate notification. Affiliated Ford Motor Companies are requested to coordinate similar action in territories under their respective supervision.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Owners may inform the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration if the recall is not performed without charge or within a reasonable time after the vehicle is brought to a Ford dealership for repair. Any dealership having any problem in inspecting such an ambulance and/or performing the needed repairs must immediately contact their supervising Ford location for assistance.
