STALLS DURING TRAFFIC STOPS AFTER EXTENDED IDLING IN HIGH TEMPERATURES - 3.8L ENGINE

If one of the above mentioned vehicle/engine calibrations stalls during traffic stops after a long idle in hot weather, service by modifying the purge control system.

Using Figure 32 as a guide for automatic transmission vehicles (calibration 3-56D), and Figure 33 as a guide for (calibration 3-55D) manual transmission vehicles, remove the EVAP purge signal delay valve. Replace the valve with a straight vacuum hose connector.





Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
