Removal and Installation

1. Remove floor mat, then the access cover attaching screws from floor pan.
2. Place gearshift lever in REVERSE, then remove access cover, insulator and dust cover.
3. Remove transfer case and transmission shift lever, shift ball and boot assemblies.
4. Raise and support vehicle.
5. Drain transmission fluid, then disconnect front and rear driveshafts from transfer case and wire to one side.
6. Remove retaining ring or cotter pins from shift link, then lift shift link from transfer case.
7. Remove speedometer cable from transfer case.
8. Support transfer case with a suitable jack, then remove transfer case attaching bolts and the transfer case.
9. Remove rear support to transmission attaching bolts.
10. Support transmission with a suitable jack and remove rear support bracket and brace.
11. Remove 4 transmission to bellhousing attaching bolts, then lower transmission from vehicle.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
