ISSUE: The crankcase expansion plug for the 6.9L and 7.3L diesel requires the use of a special installation tool to properly set the expansion plug to the correct amount of deflection. The expansion plug replacement tool, D83T-6015-B, eliminates the chance of too much deflection or not enough deflection which could cause the expansion plug to fall out.

REMOVAL
1. Check the crankcase expansion plug for signs of leakage, such as rust, small cracks or leakage.
