New Process (4-Speed Transmission)

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove transmission shift lever, ball and boot assembly.
3. Remove floor pan transmission cover.
4. Remove weather pad.

NOTE: It may be necessary to remove seat assembly to provide access for removal of the weather pad.

5. Remove gearshift lever and knob from housing. Use tool No. T73T-7220-A or equivalent to remove inner cap, then lift off spring seat, spring and lever.
6. Disconnect back up lamp switch electrical connector from gearshift housing cover.
7. Raise and support vehicle.
8. Position suitable jack under transmission, then remove rear support attaching bolts and the rear support.
9. Remove transmission-to-clutch housing attaching bolts and lower transmission from vehicle.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
