Disassemble

1. Remove fill plug and drain lubricant from transmission.
2. Remove gearshift housing attaching bolts and the housing.
3. Lock transmission in any two gears and remove U-joint flange and output oil seal.
4. Remove speedometer driven gear and bearing assembly.

5. Remove output shaft rear bearing retainer or extension housing and gasket.
6. Remove speedometer drive gear snap ring, then the drive gear and ball, if equipped.
7. Remove output shaft bearing snap rings from shaft and bearing, then the bearing spacer.

Output Shaft Bearing Removal:





8. Remove output shaft bearing.
9. Remove input shaft bearing retainer and gasket, then the bearing snap rings from shaft and bearing.
10. Remove input shaft bearing using suitable tool.
11. Remove input shaft oil baffle.
12. Remove spring clip or roll pin from reverse shifter arm pivot screw. Remove pivot screw, then pry shifter arm and shoe assembly out of case using a suitable screwdriver.
13. Remove input shaft, synchronizer blocking ring and needle bearings, then the output shaft and gear assemblies from case. Remove retainer attaching bolts and retainer from rear of case.
14. Drive countershaft with cluster gear out of case, using dummy shaft No. T83T-7111-B or equivalent. Ensure front and rear thrust washers are removed from case.
15. Remove idler shaft from front of case using a suitable slide hammer and tool No. T50T-7140-C or equivalent.
16. Remove reverse idler gear and thrust washers from case.
