STRONGER INSTALLATION TOOL 87-12-16

LIGHT TRUCK: 1983-87 E-250/350, F-250/350

ISSUE: A new tool is available for installing the crankshaft wear sleeve on the 6.9L diesel engine. The tool is made from high strength plastic materials and includes additional stiffening ribs.

ACTION: Each crankshaft wear sleeve and rear oil seal service package now includes the new stronger tool along with an installation instruction sheet. The instruction sheet specifies the use of safety glasses during the installation procedure. The "OLD STYLE" kits with the white installation tools should be taken out of service because the tool may fracture under heavy impact, Figure 28. Only the

"NEW STYLE" kits with the gray installation tool should be used in service. After installation of the crankshaft wear sleeve, the tool should be thrown away.

NOTE: An All Dealer letter dated 9-3-86 detailed instructions for the return of "old style" kits for credit.
