Operation on vehicles in off-road, severe environments may result in the one-piece design spindle seal and the spindle needle bearing seal allowing water and contaminants to get into the spindle needle bearings. This causes premature seal and bearing wear.

The following service action is suggested for installation of the previous style sealing system ("V" ring/"V" block seals and spacer/thrustwasher). This is similar to the sealing system on the model 501FS used on F350 4x4's.
