ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER DECAL AND ENGINE CALIBRATION DECAL (6.9L DIESEL) - NEW LOCATION

FIGURE 11:

The location of the engine serial number decal for the 6.9L diesel engine has been changed from the left rocker cover to the left side of the injection pump adapter (Figure 11) on engines built after March 16, 1983. The engine calibration decal, which had been on the left side of the injection pump adapter, has been moved to the right side of the adapter. The Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) decal will remain on the right rocker cover.
To expedite the resolution of any light truck diesel concern it is important that the engine serial number be recorded on all service documents
