Axle Pivot Bracket

4 X 2 MODELS
1. Remove front spring, radius arm, wheel spindle and I-beam.
2. Remove four attaching nuts and two bolts and retainer assemblies. Remove axle pivot bracket, Fig. 17 and 18.
3. Reverse procedure to install. Position axle pivot bracket to frame and install forward and rearward bolts and retainer assemblies from inside of pivot bracket out through crossmember. Loosely install four nuts on outside of crossmember (two forward and two rearward). Torque nuts to 70-92 ft. lbs. Use nut N8802073-S2 or install one .20 inch thick hardened washer under each nut if a standard nut is used.

4 X 4 MODELS
1. Remove coil spring and radius arm as described previously.
2. Remove front drive axle as described in the ``Front Wheel Drive Section'' of this chapter.
3. To remove right pivot bracket, remove upper bolt and retainer, then the side bolt and retainer, Fig. 19. Remove and discard lower bolt and retainer, then remove pivot bracket from crossmember.
4. To remove left pivot bracket, drill out rivets so that mounting holes in bracket and crossmember are {9/16} inch in diameter, then remove the bracket, Fig. 20.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Refer to Figs. 19 and 20 for replacement hardware and torque specifications.
