Owner Notification Program B45 Technical and Administrative Instructions
PLEASE CIRCULATE THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO YOUR PARTS AND SERVICE PERSONNEL. ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THESE INSTRUCTIONS SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO YOUR SERVICE ZONE MANAGER.Certain 1983-model Ranger 4X4 and 1984-model Bronco II vehicles equipped with the optional snow plow special package (Code 565) or optional heavy-duty front suspension package (Code 67C).
These vehicles were built at the Louisville Assembly Plant from February 1, 1983 through April 22, 1983, and without an auxiliary weight rating label. The label specifies that a front gross axle weight rating (GAWR) of 2,750 pounds can be achieved when the air cylinder - assisted front springs are pressurized to 55 pounds per square inch (PSI). Pressurization to 30 PSI, the normal-usage recommendation, provides a front GAWR of 2,300 pounds, the weight shown on the Safety Certification Label. The information shown on the auxiliary label is also included in the Owner Guides for the involved vehicles. The purpose of the label is to place the information in a more convenient location.
TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS
The enclosed listing identifies vehicles involved in this program which, according to our records, were delivered to your dealership. The letter sent to owners whose names and addresses appear on the listing will include the auxiliary label and instructions for owner Installation of the labels to their vehicles. Owners will be advised that if they prefer, they may take their vehicles to their Ford dealerships to have the labels installed at no cost (Attachment II). We ask that you contact owners of recently delivered vehicles whose names and addresses do not appear on the listing. Arrange with those owners to correct their vehicles as promptly as possible. All stock vehicles involved in this program must be corrected prior to delivery to purchasers. Enclosed is a quantity of auxiliary weight rating labels sufficient to correct your stock vehicles.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Open the driver's-side door.
2. Refer to the illustration shown below. Be sure that the area where the label is to be affixed is free of dirt, grease, etc.
